Although normally cheaply produced , titles in this series enjoy profuse illustrations and this is no exception.

in original illustrated publishers card covers printed in red and blue. Illustrated cover, 1 frontispiece, 3 full page and many in-text illustrations in B&W, 4 color illustrations.223 pages. As mentioned elsewhere, the majority of flagellation novels avoided prosecution at the time they were published, only to become the focus of prosecution in the 1950’s.

This title will be listed immediately for sale on eBay, where currently many of my very rare titles are also listed. You can view these at the following link.

Kidrodstock, Lord Éducation anglaise, Discipline du corset, des gants, des bottines, etc., etc. (Under Kid-Government), Édition Parisienne [ Roberts & Dardaillon ] Paris, 1908. Del Giglio, M.10 B&W photogravures, head and tail pieces. 264 pages + 3 pages of adverts. Number 684/750. Rebound lacking original covers, but otherwise complete and in very good condition.
The subtitle “Under Kid Government” can be translated as: under the rule of the kid; “kid leather” is frequently used in the 19th and early 20th century to make gloves and other accessories. The fetishism of boots and gloves of “iced kid” is common in the sadomasochistic literature of this period.
Magnificent editions of this book became rare and one of the first (in 1908) to deal with fetishism and forced cross-dressing or feminization. Superb heliogravures by Del Giglio
Bécourt 28: Sentenced by the 17th Chamber Seine Correctional Court on November 25, 1953 and then by the Paris Court of Appeal 10th Chamber on June 9, 1954. The entry wrongly indicates Kio Rostock as the author.

Another flagellation title, this one a small volume sparsely illustrated , but very nicely done by Louis Malteste. A rare find this one and now just a few years short of its one hundredth birthday.

Now entering a bibliographical minefield as this publisher produced under multiple house names and was very loose with editions and publication dates. I am not going to attempt to solve the problem just offer examples that i have.

A return to my labour of love, which is the cataloguing of The Charles Carrington Collection, this consists of titles from my own collection and those of my good friend Michael Neal. I had promised Michael, before his untimely death last year that I would list all of the titles that I now own, and I have slowly been doing so between forays into titles that I would like to sell on. This one is from the Michael Neal Collection, and according to his provenance was formally in the Leonardt Collection. For most visitors to the site, the primary interest is in the illustrations, this title allows for a great treat because all of the many illustrations are by Martin Van Maele.

This is a French translation of Gynecocracy, Adventures and Psychological Experiences of Julian Robinson, published by Leonard Smithers in 1893. This present work retains the flagellation scenes from that original English edition but is expurgated of all the sexual descriptions. This work is thought to have been written by either Stanislas de Rhodes, a London lawyer or possibly by Havelock Ellis, although there is no hard evidence to support either theory. [See Mendes: 84-A]. La Gynécocratie was later published in English by Carrington in c.1912.
