The book is rebound in half leather (spine and corners) on dark marbled boards. Title in gilt embossed horizontally, with embossed decorations, gold bands ( significant wear to raised band)s. Fairly obviously with no information whatsoever within the book itself it is not possible to accurately reference to any Gamiani bibliographical information.
Gamiani, Clandestine Edition, No Date, No Publisher, No place. ( Paris)(1920-1930)Printed on good quality paper with strong clear text, Original Illustrated covers preserved, 112 pages of text, with main illustrations in black and red, and small vignettes and chapter headings and endings in mono.
The book does have an introduction which appears to focus on the historical and social history of the origin of Gamiani and the circumstances under which it was written. It goes on to outline the early publications and critiques some particular editions especially the illustrated copies, and finishes up giving an outline of the story. It does not appear to reference or name the origin of the particular edition it contained . It is possible that this introduction was lifted from another source. My best reference for dating is the design of the the small in text figures which have a very distinctive, ” flapper” feel to them hence my guess at 1920-1930. The only reference that is close, is all but useless:-GAMIANI [S.I.: n.p., n.d., c.1930].8vo. 112pp. Printed on velin. 5 illustrations.(Dutel: 1646.)
The illustrations appear to be signed either P.S or P.J.
