Books for Trade: LEMORT, Henry. Visions Erotiques. Mit einer Einleitung von Sig. von Eggh. Stück XI. Vienna: Privatdruck der Gesellschaft österreichischer Bibliophilen, 1908.

 

 A recent find which I am pleased to be able to share with you,  a wonderful erotic portfolio, by the original War of the Worlds artist, using the wonderful pseudonym of Henry Lemort, or Henry the dead, along with the suitably macabre monogram signature. (as above).

[CORREA, Henrique Alvim (1876-1930), under the pseudonym of:] LEMORT, Henry. Visions Erotiques. Mit einer Einleitung von Sig. von Eggh. Stück XI. Vienna: Privatdruck der Gesellschaft österreichischer Bibliophilen, 1908.

In original portfolio in-4 (338 x 245 mm). 8 pp. uncut including title page and title list of illustratons in printed text and 20 free drawings in photomechanical reproductions, mounted on leaves of laid paper of a strong burgundy hue, attached by a cord of purple silk. On the first cover of the portfolio, label printed in black.

Following reproductions of erotic and satirical drawings of Alvim Correa, illustrator of Brazilian origin, published by CW Stern in Vienna (Austria) in 1908. Evoking the art and subtle trait of Félicien Rops. Alvim Correa was much more famous for his science-fiction illustrations, of which he was one of the masters, notably by his nightmarish visions accompanying the first French edition of. Wells ‘ War of the Worlds . The draw of this suite is not indicated. Bilder-Lexikon IV, 387-390.
