Paris, Aux Editions Prima. 1938, First Edition.255 pages with full page sepia tone. Ill.: R. Fanny. Flagellation novel. Beautifully illustrated by famous French artist Etienne Le Rallic (1891-1968) under the alias R. Fanny. Étienne Le Rallic was one of the most prominent French realistic comic artists of the 1940s and 1950s.
This copy Very good condition. In original printed covers on, blue/green marbled card. With author, title illustrator and imprint on front cover, repeated across the spine with original price of 30 Francs.

Tempted to name this Twelve shades of Sepia, whatever ones view of the subject matter, exquisitely executed, and interesting to see what the French were up to just before the outbreak of the Second World War.
